Magic to Uganda II (2022) – 20.000 seedlings für Madi Opei and MttW-Team on site

Already for the third year in a row our partner organisation ISCOT organises the growing and distribution of seedlings for communities, farmers and schools of the north Ugandan regions Madi Opei and Lamwo District to stabilise the local climate and tackle long-term effects of climate change

In january we tasked Jimmy and the tree-nursery owner Joel with the raising of 20.000 seedling. These Teak, Mahagoni, Mango and Jackfruit seedlings will be distributed in the to local communities in the next weeks. As the rainy season is just about to begin, this is the best time for the seedlings to be planted in real soil and put their roots. In the future these trees will help to stabilze the local climate and weather while also providing food and livelihood to the people around.

By working directly together with the local tree-nursery of Joel, it only takes 0,45 € to grow and distribute a seedling to the communities. This means an area the size of a football field can be covered with trees again for aprox. 840 €. You can find more information and the details to contribute on our project page Magic to Uganda II (’22).

For the first time since the start of the covid pandemic it will also be possible for a team of MttW-members to join and support Jimmy and his ISCOT-team in distributing the seedlings and visiting the plantation sites. Anna, Felix, Flo and Marcus will use the visit to collect drone footage, GPS-data and a lot of pictures. As always, our teams pays for all their trip-expenses from their own pockets, so 100% of the raised money will go towards the good cause! Please come visit out Facebook and Instagram to get more updates from the field!
